Strathfield Symphony: The Firebird

strathfield november2013From the ethereal serenity of Mozart’s Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments and the luscious Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings to the sparkle of Stravinsky’s Firebird, Strathfield Symphony’s last program for 2013 will be a feast for the ears.

Mozart’s Serenade K361 (“Gran Partita”) featured in the film Amadeus, the haunting oboe and clarinet theme one of its most moving moments.

Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, a tribute to Mozart, who was adored by Tchaikovsky above all other composers, remains one of the late Romantic era’s most definitive and best loved compositions.

“The Firebird” made Stravinsky famous throughout the world, its brilliance heralding a major figure of the twentieth century. It remains one of his most popular works.
